Utility Plant Technician I

Performs semi-skilled work in the construction, maintenance, repair and assists in the operation of a water treatment plant. Employee will be required to handle hazardous chemicals and may be in charge of the ground maintenance, janitorial, and compound security. Reports to Water/Wastewater Superintendent. Maintains irrigation systems, logs and records, checks equipment, performs preventive maintenance, minor laboratory work, and may operate equipment such as tractor, trucks, pumps. Able to perform shift work as assigned and respond to emergencies. Requires good communication with the public and ability to read and write; physical ability to walk, stand, push, bend, and work outdoors in various weather conditions; may be on-call and work with chemicals.
