Job Summary

Maintain plant cleanliness and operate equipment including mowers, street sweepers, and water trucks in the ash silo and MSHA designated areas. Perform routine inspections, troubleshoot issues, and report findings to the Shift Supervisor or Operations Manager while adhering to safety protocols. Assist the Assistant Plant Operator as needed and handle hazardous materials with proper protective gear. This role requires extended hours, weekend work, and on-call status. A valid Pennsylvania driver's license and two years of power plant equipment experience are preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Pennsylvania driver's license
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in the English language
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations
  • High school diploma
  • Ability to wear a respirator during cleaning process when required
  • Ability, medically qualified to wear a respirator during cleaning process when required
  • Ability to handle a variety of power tools in a safe manner
  • Ability, under proper supervision, to locate, correct and adjust defects in mobile equipment and mechanical machinery
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical drawings and schematics
  • Knowledge and understanding of Occupational hazards and standard safety precautions necessary in the work
  • Ability to communicate, both written and oral, clearly, logically and accurately

Desired Qualifications

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) preferred
  • Two years' experience with the operation of power plant equipment, or equivalent is preferred
  • Knowledge of general mechanical equipment, including knowledge of general maintenance functions and operating procedures
  • Ability, when qualified, to start up, operate and shut down material handling and water systems in the local control modes to maintain plant safety, efficiency and production
  • Ability to perform routine inspections, trouble shooting and corrective actions, and reports timely information to the Shift Supervisor
  • Familiarity with job site practices and procedures
  • Demonstrated skills in the use of hand tools
  • Basic maintenance and repair skills
  • Ability to handle a variety of power tools in a safe manner
  • Ability, under proper supervision, to locate, correct and adjust defects in mobile equipment and mechanical machinery
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical drawings and schematics
  • Ability to communicate, both written and oral, clearly, logically and accurately
