Utility Operator

Entry-level Utility Operator I at Nidec supports safe and reliable operation of facility utility systems (steam, water, compressed air, HVAC, or power) under supervision. Responsibilities include assisting with operation and monitoring of utility equipment, taking routine equipment readings, recording logs and readings, following established SOPs, and escalating abnormal conditions. The role performs basic maintenance tasks, maintains clean and orderly work areas, coordinates with maintenance and other teams, and supports safety programs (LOTO, PPE) and environmental/safety compliance. Requires following detailed procedures, strong attention to detail, effective communication and teamwork, and a willingness to learn utility systems and operational concepts. Education/experience expectations include a high school diploma or equivalent, with technical coursework or mechanical aptitude preferred and 0–2 years of related experience; the position does not involve people management.
