Job Summary
Utility Operator role in Durban, South Africa, supporting the operation of the Pot Line by assisting the Cell Operator/Cell Technician and PTM with safe, efficient aluminium reduction-cell operation. Responsibilities include changing anodes and pot shields, monitoring pot voltage and logic, preparing tapping holes, skimming dross, taking metal and bath samples for quality/chemistry control, assisting with pot beam raising, housekeeping, pot skimming/redressing, gutter/basement cleaning, attending PTM on-the-job training, toxin-emission reduction tasks, and maintaining 5S standards. Requires physical fitness, ability to work shifts, and English communication skills; training to operate Pot Tending Machines and related equipment will be provided. Location hints: Abu Dhabi (ATA), Al Taweelah Alumina.
Required Qualifications
- Secondary School Certificate
- One year of experience in heavy industry is preferable
- English communication skills
- Complete the training and acquire the skills to operate Pot Tending Machines, Anode Beam Raising Equipment and general Potroom tools, vehicles or equipment in use on the assigned Potline
