Utility Operator 1, Night Shift

Job Summary

Operate, maintain, and repair black and clean utility systems while monitoring mechanical and electrical equipment, power distribution, and chilled water. Monitor compressed gas inventory, boiler feed water, and cooling tower levels; respond to equipment failures, power outages, and fire alarms. Perform basic preventive maintenance, assist with complex tasks, and analyze data to implement energy-saving measures and optimize utility usage. Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards, maintain accurate records, and support site operations and emergency work orders during off-hours. Work the 2/2/3 night shift from 6pm to 6am in Holly Springs, North Carolina.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1-2 years of experience in Utility Operations or a related field
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Ability to operate equipment and hand tools
  • Effective communication, both written and oral
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical sites
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must be able to support 24/7 manufacturing facility, including shift, on-call and weekends
  • Ability to discern audible cues
  • Ability to inspect or perform a task with 20/20 corrected vision, visual acuity, including distinguishing color
  • Ability to ascend or descend ladders, scaffolding, ramps, etc
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, up to 12 hours
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time, up to 12 hours
  • Ability to conduct activities using repetitive motions that include writs, hands and/or fingers
  • Ability to operate machinery and/or power tools
  • Ability to conduct work that includes moving objects up to 33 pounds
  • Ability to bend, push or pull, reach to retrieve materials from 18" to 60" in height, and use twisting motions
  • Will work in warm/cold environments, from a range of 0-115 degree Fahrenheit
  • Will work in outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind
  • Will work in small and/or enclosed spaces
  • Will work in heights greater than 4 feet
  • Will work in environment which may necessitate respiratory protection
  • May work in Mechanical/Production spaces that may require hearing protection and enrollment in a hearing conservation program
  • Will work in environment operating a motor vehicle or Powered Industrial Truck

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate degree in mechanical, electrical, applied engineering, or industrial technology
  • Prior utility operations experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing, or industrial environment
  • Experience with data tracking software, such as Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
