Job Summary
Locate underground utilities, including telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems, by thoroughly searching designated areas and accurately marking locations. Complete necessary documentation and photograph each locate using company-provided vehicles and ticket management systems. Search for utilities in various weather conditions, distinguishing between color-coded wiring and working in confined spaces. Perform tasks while walking, bending, and lifting up to 75 lbs, and communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners. Proficiency with technology and the ability to read locate tickets, maps, and prints are required. This full-time role involves daytime work with a 48-hour turnaround time, including overtime, weekend shifts, and on-call rotations for nights and holidays. No prior locating experience is needed, though it is encouraged.
Required Qualifications
- Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Proficiency with technology
- Able to pass a drug screen
- Valid driver's license and a safe driving record
- Able to work in a confined space
- Able to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities
- Able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, as well as maps and prints
- Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners
- Must be able to work overtime, weekend shifts, and on-call shifts (including nights and weekends)
