Job Summary
Utility Location Technician responsible for safeguarding underground infrastructure by locating, marking, and documenting utilities prior to excavation or construction. Uses EM locating equipment and GPR, reads utility maps, creates documentation (photos, sketches, GIS entries), manages 811 tickets, coordinates with dispatch and site contacts, and performs safe manhole entries as needed. WFH outdoors in all weather and supports as-built verification for OSP construction. Full-time field work for a 1099 subcontractor in Fort Pierce, FL; pay rate $30-$35/hour depending on experience; tools provided by the customer; locator must provide a reliable personal vehicle. Safety-focused, with ability to work with electric/gas/water/sewer/fiber hazards and comply with PPE requirements.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ year utility locating experience preferred; SUE/Pre-design locating exposure a plus
- Proficiency with EM locating; familiarity with GPR desirable
- Ability to use mobile field apps for ticketing, photos, and GIS notes
- Physical ability to walk, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in streets/ROWs
- This is a subcontractor role: locator supplies a reliable personal vehicle. OSP will not provide a truck or reimburse insurance, mileage, or branding costs.
