Job Summary
Locator for underground utility damage prevention and mark-out services. Responsible for correctly, safely, and efficiently locating underground utilities (telecommunications, electric, gas, water, sewer) in designated areas, thoroughly searching for utilities, accurately marking locations, completing required documentation, and photographing each locate. Daytime, full-time work with potential overtime, weekend, and on-call shifts. Training provided with opportunities for advancement. Company-provided vehicle, fuel card, equipment, daily pay options, comprehensive benefits, 401(k) with company match, PTO/holidays, and an employee recognition program. Requires outdoor work, color-differentiation to identify wiring, ability to lift up to 75 lbs, valid driver’s license and safe driving record, and good communication skills. Prior locating experience not required but encouraged.
Required Qualifications
- Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Proficiency with technology
- Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed
- Able to pass a drug screen (safety-sensitive position)
- Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
- Able to work in a confined space; walk, bend, and lift up to 75 lbs
- Able to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities
- Able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, as well as maps and prints
- Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners
