Food Service/Prep Aide assists the cook with food preparation and presentation, handles dishwashing duties and cleanliness of dishes, silverware, and glassware, and supports dining operations as needed. Responsibilities include preparing items as requested, portioning and plating salads and desserts, assisting with kitchen cleaning (including floors) and equipment, setting up and running the dishwashing operation, inspecting water temperatures and sanitation equipment, taking out garbage, assisting with dining room service, restocking shelves and refrigerators, reporting problems to a supervisor, attending required in-service and staff meetings, and delivering superior customer service to residents and guests. Requires good organizational skills, ability to work well with others, basic knowledge of kitchen operations, ability to follow simple instructions, ability to stand/kneel/walk for extended periods, tolerance for temperature extremes, and ability to lift 50 lbs and carry heavy objects for up to 20 feet. Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.
