Job Summary
Lead and supervise utility crews and subcontractors on active commercial construction projects, coordinating daily work activities with the Superintendent and Project Manager. Read and interpret construction plans, utility plans, specifications, and layouts to oversee installation, repair, and maintenance of underground utilities including water, sewer, stormwater, and related infrastructure. Coordinate excavation, trenching, pipe installation, backfilling, grading, and site restoration while performing daily jobsite inspections and monitoring work progress. Operate and work around heavy equipment as needed, enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements, and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment. Identify potential issues, delays, conflicts, or safety concerns and communicate them promptly to project leadership. Track daily manpower, materials, equipment, and production activities, train and coach crew members, and coordinate with inspectors, subcontractors, and vendors. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while ensuring work is completed according to plans, specifications, project schedules, and quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in utility construction, underground utilities, site work, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of underground utility installation and construction practices
- Ability to read and understand construction plans and utility drawings
- Ability to operate or work safely around heavy construction equipment
- Strong understanding of jobsite safety practices and OSHA requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, subcontractors, and project partners
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding work as required
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience leading or supervising construction crews preferred
