Job Summary
Manage a team of engineers, coordinators, and inspectors overseeing Subsurface Utility Engineering, utility analysis, and coordination for adjustments on highway design and construction projects. Lead efforts in reviewing project documents, utility plans, and technical reports to resolve conflicts with utility owners, TxDOT, and contractors while ensuring schedules and deadlines are met. Support engineering staff in utility relocation design, create layouts in Bentley OpenRoads Designer, and lead staff in writing proposals for contract pursuits. Serve as the Utility Engineer for a large-scale TxDOT Interstate Project in Austin, providing management expertise on roadway, drainage, and bridge improvements.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas
- 10+ years of experience, after attaining PE license, in leading a team as described above in utility management for conflict identification and clearance on transportation projects
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
- Ability to represent Lochner in meetings, conferences and interviews with potential clients
- Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to mentor engineers and technicians
- Must be alert to equipment in the field
- Occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery
- Occasional need to walk on uneven ground
- Exposure to dust, gas or fumes
- Exposure to noise
- Exposure to extremes in temperature or humidity
- Potential work at heights
- Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, stoop, crawl, and lifting
- Must frequently lift and/or move light equipment up to 20 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in roadway, drainage and bridge design or construction engineering
- PE experience working on TxDOT projects
- Experience using Bentley OpenRoads Designer software
