Utility Coordinator

Job Summary

Review technical plan sets and subsurface utility engineering reports to identify utility conflicts. Collaborate with utility contacts to relocate or protect utilities within client timelines and budgets. Manage consultants providing support services and act as a liaison between the client's utility group and project stakeholders. Monitor project progress, measure performance against scope, schedule, and budget, and coordinate with external subconsultants to complete deliverables. Participate in reporting efforts for project status, submittals, resolutions, and financial aspects while adhering to regulations and safety standards. Travel up to 25% of the week to job sites with clients and stakeholders. Requires a valid driver's license, E-Rail safe certification, and experience with Class I Railroads and DOTs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent and/or related work experience
  • Previous experience in utility coordination or a similar role
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to comply with Olsson's motor vehicle policies
  • Good driving history
  • Ability to obtain E-Rail safe certification
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule
  • Willingness to travel as required
  • Travel to job sites with clients and other stakeholders (estimated up to 25% travel time per week)
  • Ability to review, interpret, and understand technical plan sets and subsurface utility engineering (SUE) reports and findings
  • Ability to identify utility conflicts as it relates to client's project
  • Ability to work with various utility contacts in order to relocate or protect utilities within the timeline and budget set by client
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining budgets and deadlines
  • Strong understanding of a construction processes and utility infrastructure
  • Excellent client service orientation, communication, presentation, and negotiating skills
  • Adheres to regulations and enforces safety standards

Desired Qualifications

  • Connectivity and prior experience with Class I Railroads and DOTs
  • Understanding of real estate transactions and agreements (preferred, but not required)
