Job Summary
Fleet Mechanic Utility Assistant role supporting maintenance of light- and heavy-duty vehicles across Alabama. Responsibilities include routine and preventive maintenance, light fabrication, and troubleshooting of hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and A/C systems. Travel positions require weekly Monday-Thursday trips away from home; non-traveling roles based in a garage with various shift options (day/evening, 7am-3:30pm; night 3pm-1:30am). Overtime, call-outs, weekends and holidays may be required. Must be at least 18, possess a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain CDL. ASE certification and welding credentials are preferred. Prior automotive maintenance experience (2 years) and knowledge of vehicle classes (light to heavy-duty) are desired. The role emphasizes safety, physical endurance, and ethical conduct in all weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma
- 2-year Technical Degree in Automotive Technology highly desired
- 2 years of experience in automotive maintenance
- Knowledge of light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles; Experience with hydraulics and diesel engines preferred
- Ability to perform physically demanding activities in all temperature extremes
- Shifts information: day/evening/night; overtime/call-out/weekends/holidays as required
- Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain and hold CDL license
- Available for overtime, call-out, weekends and holidays as required
