Job Summary
Conduct a year-long apprenticeship program split between SPR and the Allen Water Treatment Plant, spending six months at each location. Learn under the mentorship of licensed operators while tracking progress against defined learning objectives and training calendars. Arrive for shifts ready to communicate schedule conflicts in advance and maintain organizational alignment with Englewood Utilities' vision and values. This seasonal opportunity requires a high school diploma and a clean driving record, with a D Water or D Wastewater license required by the six-month mark to continue. Applicants must pass pre-offer and post-offer processes including interviews, reference checks, and background screenings.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Clean Driving Record
- By the 6-month mark, achieve either a D Water or D Wastewater license
- Basic knowledge of principles of the Water Treatment Plant Operations discipline
- Readily learn and adopt new skills and technologies that can improve water treatment plant operations and maintenance activities
- Understands chemical and mechanical treatment technologies, their principles of operation and application in specific tasks or processes
- Possesses troubleshooting competency to evaluate, diagnose and repair operational issues throughout the plant site
- Actively learning through experimentation when tackling new problems, using both successes and failures as learning fodder
- Readily applies knowledge gained from experience to new situations
- Willing to accept and incorporate feedback; actively seeks out feedback from others where appropriate
- Follow instructions and learn from mistakes
- Generating, evaluating and implementing solutions to operational problems
- Applies known solutions to existing and novel problems; demonstrates situational awareness

- Must pass pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person interviews, reference checks, and background checks, which may include local police check, DMV check, drug screen, and fingerprint checks through CBI/FBI
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
- Must be able to perform extensive sitting, walking, carrying, kneeling, bending, reaching, and squatting
- Must be able to work on level, slippery, sloping, unstable and uneven terrain in a variety of weather conditions
- Must be able to be exposed to extreme cold, heat, heights, temperature swings, constant noise, mechanical and electrical hazards, fumes, odors, & chemicals
- Must be able to work in an office, outside, and in an industrial environment
