Job Summary

Conduct user research, usability testing, and workflow analysis to ensure solutions align with real user needs for CIO-supported products. Design wireframes and prototypes that allow stakeholders to evaluate functionality prior to development, while establishing and maintaining UX design standards and patterns across enterprise applications. Partner with product managers and developers to translate mission requirements into intuitive interfaces, reducing help desk volume and training burdens through improved usability. Perform heuristic evaluations of existing applications to identify usability issues and analyze feedback data to recommend improvements. Develop user personas, journey maps, and workflow diagrams to guide design decisions and support application modernization efforts. Collaborate with technical teams to ensure designs meet accessibility and security constraints, promoting consistent design approaches across products.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), User Experience Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Information Systems, or an equivalent/related field
  • 7+ years of business analysis, technical analysis, UX design, or related experience
  • Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and workflow analysis to inform design decisions for complex applications
  • Demonstrated ability to create wireframes, prototypes, and interaction models that enable stakeholders to evaluate and validate functionality prior to development
  • Experience applying UX best practices, design standards, and accessibility guidelines across multiple products
  • Experience collaborating with product managers, business analysts, developers, and technical stakeholders to ensure designs are feasible and aligned with business and technical requirements
  • Experience analyzing user feedback, support tickets, and behavioral data to identify usability issues and recommend improvements
  • Proven ability to support enterprise-level UX initiatives, including design system development, pattern libraries, and cross-product consistency efforts
  • Ability to translate complex business, mission, and user requirements into clear and intuitive user experiences
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, customer-focused mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take ownership of UX initiatives, and effectively collaborate within multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the government clearance required for the position
  • U.S. citizenship

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience applying modern UX research methods, including contextual inquiry, diary studies, and/or task analysis, to uncover deeper user needs
  • Familiarity with creating and maintaining design systems or pattern libraries that promote consistency across enterprise applications
  • Experience incorporating accessibility best practices and designing interfaces that meet Section 508 guidelines
  • Experience using analytics and behavioral data to identify usability issues and inform design improvements
  • Background supporting change management and user adoption efforts, including user onboarding, training materials, and communications for new or updated workflows
