Job Summary
Drive the definition of Biosciences design vision and strategy while leading a team of UX/UI designers focused on software for medical discovery devices. Conduct user research, interaction design, and visual design within a multi-disciplinary, Agile-based environment, collaborating closely with engineers. Develop and communicate design guidelines, patterns, and style sheets to ensure uniformity across the organization. This leadership role supports a global medical technology company advancing health through diagnostics and care delivery, with a special focus on immunology and oncology. Candidates must possess strong problem-solving skills, independent self-direction, and experience managing complex projects in the Healthcare IT space.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS/BFA degree in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications), Science (e.g., Molecular biology, Immunology, Chemistry, Physics) or other related fields
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience
- Proficient with industry standard design tools (e.g., Figma, Zeplin, Balsamiq, Sketch, Figma, Invision, Adobe Creative Suite)
- Research experience in persona creation, usability testing, customer journeys
- Ability to convey insights in crisp, clear, and actionable ways
- Experience implementing visual design systems across a range of platforms in an iterative software development environment
- Must be self-motivated to prioritize and manage workload and meet critical project deadlines
- Excellent leadership, mentoring, organization, communication, and collaboration skills
- Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills
- Proven customer focus, learning agility and situational awareness
- Self-directed with the ability to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies and trends

Desired Qualifications
- Experience managing a design team
- Interest/experience in immunology or other life sciences applications
- Prior experience and consistent track record leading complex projects
- Proven knowledge of software development practices
- Solid understanding of applicable standards for medical devices: FDA QSR, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 62304
- Previous experience leading large, global software development efforts in the Healthcare IT space
