Job Summary
Inspect, diagnose, and repair engine, transmission, suspension, steering, brake, electrical, and HVAC systems on pre-owned vehicles to dealership standards. Perform comprehensive mechanical inspections, complete manufacturer-recommended maintenance, and conduct multi-point inspections with road tests to verify proper operation. Replace worn parts, document labor and parts, and communicate vehicle status with service advisors. Maintain a clean shop environment, operate diagnostic equipment safely, and meet productivity and quality performance goals while ensuring all repairs comply with manufacturer specifications and safety regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to operate diagnostic equipment and scan tools
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Strong understanding of automotive mechanical and electrical systems
- Ability to accurately diagnose vehicle concerns
- Knowledge of manufacturer repair procedures and industry best practices
- Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Commitment to quality workmanship and customer satisfaction
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to work in a shop environment with varying temperatures
- Ability to safely operate lifts, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 2+ years of automotive technician experience preferred
- Experience diagnosing and repairing multiple vehicle makes and models
- ASE certifications preferred
- Experience in a dealership service department
- ASE Master Technician certification is a plus
- Experience using dealership management systems and digital inspection software
- Experience with hybrid and electric vehicle maintenance is a plus
