Job Summary
Forecast sales goals and expenses, then prepare and administer the annual operating budget for the used-vehicle sales department. Appraise, purchase, recondition, and display the vehicle inventory while maintaining stock levels and enforcing a 45-day turn policy. Direct daily activities for all department employees, assist salespeople in setting monthly goals, and help close deals. Monitor customer preferences, lost sales, and market analyses to determine which vehicles to stock, then communicate inventory needs with the new-vehicle sales manager. Appraise incoming vehicles, oversee cosmetic and mechanical reconditioning within cost limits, and establish wholesaling activities. Develop advertising campaigns, track auction results, and handle customer complaints immediately.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
