Job Summary

Adapt classroom activities and materials to support special education students in general education or resource room settings. Assist students with personal care needs, social skills development, and behavioral programming under the direction of certified staff. Monitor students during assigned periods in school and community environments to ensure safety and positive learning climates. Collaborate with teachers and agencies to implement Individual Education Plans and safeguard confidential information. Maintain instructional materials and data sheets to track student progress.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 48 college hours or qualifying score on Master Teacher Online Exam within the first 90 days of employment
  • 20 hours per year of in-service training
  • Criminal Background check
  • Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in Central Office
  • Non-exempt status
  • Faithful, daily attendance and adherence to work schedules
  • Ability to work cooperatively and demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with other paras, professionals, community agencies, and other groups
  • Adhering to safety practices
  • Operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate records
  • Using district approved crisis intervention techniques
