Job Summary

Adapt classroom activities and materials for special education students to ensure active participation in general education and resource room settings. Aids students in and out of the classroom, including packing backpacks, note-taking, and supporting social skills development. Assists with personal care needs such as diaper changing, potty training, and lavatory use to maintain student function within the school environment. Implements educational and behavioral programming under certified staff supervision to develop new skills and addresses challenging behaviors per IEP goals. Collaborates with staff to monitor student progress and creates visual aids for students with visual impairments. Safeguards confidential information, maintains instructional materials and data sheets, and ensures a safe environment during transitions and community activities.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 48 college hours
  • Qualifying score on Master Teacher Online Exam within the first 90 days of employment
  • 20 hours per year of in-service training
  • Criminal Background check
  • Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in Central Office
  • Non-exempt status
  • Adhering to safety practices
  • Operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate records
