Job Summary
Define usability activities across all development phases in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including UX designers, clinical specialists, product managers, researchers, and system engineers. Conduct user research, task analysis, and develop use scenarios while providing input to ensure safe, effective, and intuitive solutions. Lead usability FMEA activities, plan and execute evaluations, and create engineering files in compliance with FDA guidance and IEC 62366-1. Analyze post-market and telemetry data to identify usability issues. This role requires 2+ years of usability engineering experience with medical devices, a bachelor's or master's degree in human factors or HCI, and knowledge of regulatory requirements. The position is full-time, office-based in Cambridge, MA, with a salary range of $129,000 to $205,000.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in usability engineering for complex systems
- Experience with medical devices
- Experience across the product lifecycle, from user needs and task analysis to validation and post-market follow-up
- Knowledge of cognitive and physical ergonomics
- Familiarity with quality management systems and risk management principles
- Ability to produce high-quality formal documentation
- Understanding of regulatory requirements for medical device usability, including FDA guidance and IEC 62366-1
- Bachelor's or master's degree in human factors engineering, human-computer interaction (HCI), cognitive science, product or interaction design or similar discipline
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position
- US work authorization
- Reside in or within commuting distance to Cambridge, MA
- Full-time presence in the company's facilities
