Job Summary
Hospital-based Urology Surgicalist role focused on inpatient and emergency department urology care. Responsibilities include providing inpatient and ED consultations, performing intra-operative consultations, managing urgent and emergent urologic procedures and surgeries (e.g., obstructing stones, gross hematuria, testicular torsion, urologic trauma, urinary retention), delivering comprehensive postoperative care for hospitalized urology patients, collaborating with hospitalists, intensivists, ED physicians, and subspecialists, participating in surgical quality improvement and patient safety programs, maintaining thorough documentation in the EMR, and potentially supervising or mentoring medical students, residents, or advanced practice providers. Ideal for surgeons who excel in fast-paced, acute care environments with access to advanced OR technology and a strong academic setting; offers an academic appointment commensurate with experience and opportunities for clinical, basic, translational, and health-related quality research.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Urology
- Eligible for medical licensure in Massachusetts
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills
- Comfortable managing high-acuity urologic emergencies in a hospital-based setting
