Job Summary
Accurately room patients, take histories, obtain vital signs, collect specimens, and enter data into the Electronic Medical Record. Assist physicians during exams and procedures, prepare requisitions, and manage patient records, lab reports, and scheduling. Perform facility duties including setting up equipment, cleaning rooms, sterilizing instruments, and maintaining inventory. Check schedules, organize patient flow, answer calls, and relay instructions while ensuring proper patient identification and infection control. Interact professionally with patients and families, serve as a liaison between providers and administration, and consult other departments for interdisciplinary care.
Required Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant
- Comparable experience in a medical office working as a Medical Assistant
- CMA course
- Phlebotomy course and experience
- IV certification
- Basic computer and typing skills
- Manual blood pressure experience
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
- Must understand medical terminology
- Basic mathematical skills
- Able to follow basic commands
- Able to learn how to operate an electronic medical record in a proper and accurate manner
- Able to interact with staff and patients in a polite, professional, and efficient manner
Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual
- Experience with IV certification
