Job Summary

Examine and treat patients for acute episodic conditions, including sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains, and minor infections. Order and interpret diagnostic tests and X-rays, make diagnoses, and prescribe medications while recognizing serious conditions that require emergency room referral. Treat minor injuries requiring sutures, splints, or casting, administer vaccinations, and educate patients on follow-up care. Record progress notes and carry out therapy as assigned. Per diem employees work three days every 28 days block, including a weekend shift, with shifts of eight or twelve hours assigned by an authorized representative. Bachelor's degree required for Physician Assistants; Master's degree required for Nurse Practitioners. One year of full-time experience in Emergency Medicine or Urgent Care is required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants
  • Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
  • One (1) year of full-time experience in Emergency Medicine
  • One (1) year of Urgent Care setting experience
  • National Certification
  • Active state medical licensure
  • Preliminary reads on EKGs and X-rays
  • Experience treating patients ages 6 months and up in an acute care setting
  • Excellent assessment skills
  • Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, casting
  • Ability to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary
  • Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Per Diem employes must be available to work 3 days in every 28 days block including 1 weekend shift

Desired Qualifications

  • Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting preferred
  • Ability to effectively lead and coach others
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records
