Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive assessments, treat acute episodic conditions, and manage minor injuries including suturing and casting for adult and pediatric patients. Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as EKGs and X-rays, make diagnoses, prescribe medications, and administer vaccinations. Document progress notes, counsel patients, and refer individuals to emergency care when necessary. Perform duties in an urgent care setting with eight or twelve-hour shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants
- Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
- One (1) year of full-time experience in Emergency Medicine
- One (1) year of Urgent Care setting experience
- National Certification
- Active state medical licensure
- Experience treating patients ages 6 months and up in an acute care setting
- Preliminary reads on EKGs and X-rays
- Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, casting
- Experience treating both adult and pediatric patients
- Excellent assessment skills
- Ability to recognize more serious conditions
- Ability to direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary
- Examining and treating patients
- Taking patients' medical histories
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays
- Making diagnoses and prescribing medications
- Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting
- Recording progress notes for follow-up patients
- Educating and counseling patients
- Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients
- Giving vaccinations
- Referring patients to additional care
- Work an anticipated eight (8) or twelve (12) hours per shift
- Evening and weekend shifts
Desired Qualifications
- Urgent care, emergency room experience
- High acute family medicine experience
- Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting preferred
- Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records
- Attentive with strong listening skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Will consider 2 years of Family Medicine experience
