Job Summary
Enter provider orders into the electronic medical record and administer oral or injectable medications as prescribed. Perform laboratory tests including urine dipsticks, drug screens, and blood draws, communicating findings to providers and patients. Assist physicians and nurse practitioners in preparing examining rooms, taking vital signs, drawing specimens, and maintaining patient flow. Greet patients professionally, conduct telephone callbacks, schedule referrals and appointments, and manage incoming and outgoing calls. Retrieve and secure medical files and medications, ensuring no pharmaceuticals are left unattended. Access the Johnson Memorial Health computer system for vital records and dictation, and participate in emergency codes while following all center policies and protocols.
Required Qualifications
- One year of specialized courses to include the successful completion and graduation from a recognized Medical Assistant training course
- CPR certified
- Current CMA, ENCMA, CCMA, certification required or must be obtained within 3 months of hire into CMA role
Desired Qualifications
- One year of related Medical Assistant experience obtained in a provider's office or clinic preferred
