Job Summary
Provide expert pediatric urgent care with a strong level of independence, managing acute and chronic conditions using thoughtful medical judgment, appropriate diagnostic testing, and advanced procedural skills. Perform complex procedures including eye examinations, suturing, I&D, and EKG interpretations while utilizing emergency resources and community partners as needed. Collaborate on a co-appointment at the Brenner's Pediatric Emergency Department, spending 20% of monthly hours alongside attendings, residents, and fellows. Work rotating shifts at multiple sites including Kernersville, Pisgah Church, New Garden, and Oak Ridge, with no overnight shifts. Requires a North Carolina NP or PA license, BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, and one year of emergency or urgent care experience.
Required Qualifications
- North Carolina Physician Assistant or NP license
- NPs must be ACPNP or ENP or FNP boarded or eligible
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- PALS certification
- 1 year of Emergency Department experience or 2 years of community urgent care experience in a full-time capacity
- Comfortable with standard urgent care procedures and examination skills including but not exclusive to eye examinations, pelvic examinations, neurologic examinations, EKG interpretations, suturing, I&D, simple splinting
- Familiarity with emergency department evaluations, assessment tools, and diagnostic scoring tools
- Familiarity with emergency department processes, admission guidelines, and capabilities
- Ability to work a rotating shift schedule
- Professionalism and customer service skills
Desired Qualifications
- Strongly prefer experienced candidates who need limited training
- Prefer PAs and FNPs when possible
- Will hire highly qualified PNPs though
