Job Summary
Conduct daily farming operations at community farms by planting, weeding, watering, pruning, composting, and harvesting crops. Manage landscape maintenance through lawn mowing, weed-whacking, raking, and sweeping, while executing horticultural carpentry and masonry projects like constructing raised beds and installing water features. Assist in developing and packaging farm products, including beekeeping and honey harvesting, and support workshops, trainings, and special events such as the annual Harvest Luncheon.
Required Qualifications
- demonstrate an interest in learning and practicing horticulture
- Must be capable of lifting 40 lbs
- willingness and an ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions, including temperature extremes, rain, and snow
- demonstrate effective oral communication skills
- ability to follow instructions
- ability to ask questions when challenges arise
- work efficiently independently and in a team setting
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred experience in horticulture in farming, gardening, landscaping, or similar work
- Comfort and/or experience with use of basic gardening and landscaping implements
- experience with power equipment used in landscaping or garden carpentry
