Job Summary
Conduct urban forest health projects in parks and natural areas across the Treasure Valley, working with a crew of four and a leader to complete tree planting, maintenance, and wildfire fuels mitigation. Operate brush cutters, wood chippers, and power tools while identifying native and invasive species, applying surveying techniques, and managing common tree health issues. Participate in OHSA training and receive hands-on instruction in forestry education, proper planting methods, and tool maintenance. Work Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with occasional schedule variations, to complete 480 service hours between September and December 2026. Make up any missed days to fulfill the term requirement.
Required Qualifications
- 19-26 years old (age at enrollment)
- US citizenship or permanent residency
- High School Diploma, GED*
- Pass a background check
- Current First Aid/CPR certification, or applicants must obtain certification before their participation
- Ability to arrive on time at the pre-designated meeting point during all training and service
- Consistent attendance and punctuality
- Ability to listen, give and take feedback
- Desire to go the extra mile to make a positive impact on oneself, others, and the environment
- Applicants must be in good physical condition
- Capable of working on strenuous, labor-intensive projects
