Job Summary
Submit clinical documentation to health insurance to approve planned procedures, hospital admissions, or continued stays while evaluating medical records to ensure treatments meet established clinical guidelines. Review patient charts for medical necessity, align care plans with approved insurance days, and analyze denial letters to pinpoint rejection reasons. Act as a central point of contact between clinical staff, billing departments, and third-party payers, scheduling psychiatrists for telephonic reviews and drafting urgent appeal packets within 24 to 72-hour windows. Monitor length-of-stay against approved timelines to reduce financial penalties. Requires a high school diploma or GED with a bachelor's degree preferred, plus behavioral healthcare experience.
