Job Summary
Teach a full-time load of five classes while guiding daily Advisory sessions and maintaining accurate grades using Standard Based Grading. Communicate regularly with students and families regarding academic progress, differentiate instruction to meet diverse needs, and identify learners requiring additional assistance. Utilize various assessment strategies and learning management systems to monitor student achievement, provide constructive reports, and create a safe environment where students can take intellectual risks. Manage classroom expectations with fair, consistent standards and participate in school-wide events, faculty meetings, and after-school functions. Complete assigned duties as directed by the Division Head, including test proctoring, while continuously growing professionally through educational opportunities and publications.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in related field
- Minimum of 3 years teaching experience is required
- Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in high performing school
- Commitment to the school's mission, core values, and inclusion statement
- Comprehensive knowledge of curriculum and instruction within the appropriate content area and/or grade level
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills
- Effective organizational skills including but not limited to lesson planning, implementing units of study, differentiating instruction, designing and implementing assessments
- Ability to monitor student progress and report information in a timely manner
- Ability to manage, delegate and monitor tasks
- Ability to mentor and coach students, acts as a student achievement advocate and advisor
- Highly developed collaborative skills and the ability to work well with others
Desired Qualifications
- Experience teaching an IB Social Studies preferred
