Job Summary
Supervise and monitor children at all times while establishing a safe, stimulating learning environment. Greet families upon arrival, escort children to and from the bus, and conduct parent conferences for all students. Collaborate with the education team to develop and implement daily instructional plans, working closely with staff to address specific child and family needs. Maintain accurate records, reports, and data; encourage parental involvement in classroom activities and program events. Assist with mealtime, serving meals, nutrition supplements, and cleanup. Guide and direct teachers, volunteers, and parents while modeling a positive work ethic.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in early childhood education with Certification from Birth – 2 years of age
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education with Certification from Birth – 2 years of age
- Two (2) years of teaching experience
- One (1) year experience working with preschool age children
- Access to transportation and ability to visit sites throughout Erie County
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Flexibility and ability to adjust to changing circumstances
- Ability to use positive reinforcement and redirection techniques to manage classroom behavior
- Ability to provide emotional support and foster a positive, supportive environment
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Active listening, writing, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform moderate to vigorous activity with children
- Ability to tolerate loud to moderate noise
- Ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and sit on the floor
- Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds
- Completion of the CAO Employment application
- NYS SCR Clearance Form with acceptable clearance
- Criminal Record Certification and free of criminal convictions of crimes against children (misdemeanor or felony)
- Fingerprinting
- Release for Reference Checks
- Pass a physical examination by a CAO physician at no cost to applicant
