Job Summary
Implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities for 3- and 4-year-old children while maintaining open communication with parents regarding daily milestones. Ensure a safe and clean classroom by following essential procedures and guidelines, including complying with all applicable federal, state, local, and client site requirements concerning immunizations, employment physical/screening, and health and safety training. Frequently lift, carry, or hold children weighing 10 to 40 pounds, occasionally handling weight exceeding 40 pounds, while responding immediately to multiple or unexpected situations or emergencies. Work in person in an early education/preschool child care center to provide supervision, care, curriculum delivery, and services per Bright Horizons' policies, procedures, and guidance.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 90 credits toward bachelor's degree in early childhood education
- NYS Teaching Certification (B-2, N-6, 1-6, Special Education) or study plan eligibility
- 1 year of professional experience teaching in child care, daycare, or preschool settings
- Demonstrated knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice (DAP) for 4- and 5-year-old children
- Must pass required state and company background checks
- Must comply with all applicable federal, state, local, Bright Horizons', and client site requirements concerning immunizations, employment physical/screening, and health and safety training
- Must be able to frequently lift, carry, or hold children with a range of weight from 10 to 40 pounds
- Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, or hold weight more than 40 pounds
- Must demonstrate full range of motion to lift, reach, squat, climb, sit, and otherwise fully participate in activities
- Must be able to respond immediately and appropriately to multiple or unexpected situations or emergencies
- Must maintain mental and physical alertness and an appropriate level of energy to perform essential job requirements
