Job Summary
Gain hands-on experience in animal care through an unpaid internship. Responsibilities include assisting with diet preparation, enclosure maintenance, training, guest interactions, and observing animal behavior. Interns will engage the public through presentations and maintain clean work areas. Candidates should be energetic, dependable, and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Internship spans 10-12 weeks with a commitment of 24-40 hours per week, offering real-world experience for students or recent graduates interested in environmental sciences or zoo management.
Required Qualifications
- Dependable, hard-working college student or recent graduate
- Interest in education, interpretation, environmental science, biology, zoology, or zoo management
- Ability to work between 24-40 hours per week for 10-12 weeks
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and good judgement while working with children and zoo guests
- Excellent communication skills and ability to follow directions
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency in Office 365, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
