Unmanned Systems (UxS) Technician

Job Summary
Conduct daily assembly, integration, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of Group I and Group 2 unmanned systems. Build, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical assemblies using power and hand tools while selecting appropriate electronic parts and sensors. Perform routine maintenance and diagnose issues by interpreting error messages and utilizing technical manuals for hardware servicing. Maintain extensive knowledge of BetaFlight, ArduPilot, and PX4 firmware, compiling code with C, C++, and Python using Integrated Development Environments. Execute rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing through CAD software and various 3D printing technologies including FDM, SLS, and SLA. Work in a shop environment with loud noises and industrial tools, lifting up to 50 lbs, while obtaining FAA Part 107 certification within six months of employment.
Required Qualifications
- Must currently have a Secret Clearance and be eligible for a TS/SCI
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Technician in an applicable engineering or science field
- Minimum 3 years with degree or 7 years of experience without degree
- FAA Part 107 or obtain within 6 months of employment
- Hands-on professional experience within the last 5 years with Group I and/or Group 2 UxS assembly, integration, testing, operation, maintenance, and/or repair
- Extensive knowledge in BetaFlight, ArduPilot, and PX4- 5 years
- Extensive knowledge and hands on experience building drones - 5 years
- Knowledgeable in electronic propulsion and combustible power systems - 5 years
- Proficient in building, testing, and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical assemblies. This includes knowledge of analog and digital circuits, AC/DC electronics, and the ability to use test equipment, such as a multi meter, spectrum analyzer and oscilloscopes
- Knowledgeable and comfortable selecting electronic parts and sensors for various projects
- Technician must be comfortable working in a shop en ironment with loud noises and industrial power tools. May be reAuired to lift 50 lbs
- Adept, with power and hand tools for assembly and re airs
- Proficient using computer aided design (CAD) software for rapid proto-typing and additive manufacturing
- Hands on experience using various 3d printing technologies, such as FDM, SLS, SLA and strong understanding in selecting materiel e.g., PLA, PETG/ABS, and TPU
- Skilled in soldering and de-soldering electrical components, including surface mounted devices (SMD) and various sensors
- Ability to perform routine maintenance, diagnose issues, and conduct repairs using technical manuals. This includes hardware assembly, troubleshooting common error messages, and primary/secondary/servicing
- Familiar with C, C++, and python. Ability to use developmental tools, including Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), compilers, and hardware debuggers, to compile firmware or troubleshoot low-level issues
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with commercially available UxS is desirable
