Job Summary
Develop therapeutic rapport with clients and conduct diagnostic assessments, including substance use evaluations. Provide individual and family therapy to those identified with substance use issues while developing, implementing, and revising treatment goals based on ongoing assessments. Use empirically based modalities to manage mental health or substance abuse diagnoses and complete progress notes within agency guidelines. Formulate provisional diagnostic assessments and identify needs for risk assessment. Respond to supervisory requests for urgent care situations and coverage for vacant caseloads via telephone or face-to-face intervention. Keep administrative supervisors informed of potential issues impacting the program.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, Mental Health (MH) Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a specialization in MH Counseling
- License-eligible in respective discipline
- Completion of at least 24 graduate-level semester hours in psychology, social work, counseling, or other behavioral health-related coursework (for applicants with a Master's in a related field)
- Relevant coursework in Clinical treatment and treatment planning
- Relevant coursework in Appraisal and assessment of mental disorders
- Relevant coursework in Psychopathology
- Relevant coursework in Use of the DSM for diagnostic purposes within a clinical internship or practicum in a behavioral health setting
- Experience in Clinical treatment and treatment planning
- Experience in Appraisal and assessment of mental disorders
- Experience in Psychopathology
- Experience in Use of the DSM for diagnostic purposes within a clinical internship or practicum in a behavioral health setting
- Clinical experience
- Experience treating individuals with mental health and substance use disorders
- Ability to effectively communicate via written, verbal, in person and virtual methods
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Ability to coordinate, organize, and plan
- Ability to respond to needs of consumers in a timely and professional manner
- Good clinical judgment in decision making regarding consumers
- Ability to develop therapeutic rapport with clients
- Ability to formulate a provisional diagnostic assessment
- Ability to identify need for risk assessment (to include substance use assessments)
- Ability to complete documentation within 24 hours
- Ability to provide assessment services, individual (and possibly family) therapy to those identified with substance use issues
- Ability to develop, write, implement, evaluate and revise overall treatment goals/objectives and plans
- Ability to use empirically based modalities to engage and manage mental health or substance abuse diagnosis
- Ability to respond to supervisory request for urgent care situations
- Ability to provide coverage for vacant caseloads
- Ability to keep administrative supervisor informed of all potential issues that could impact the program or the organization
- Ability to stand for 10% of the time
- Ability to sit for 90% of the time
- Ability to squat occasionally

- Regular travel throughout the assigned service area
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related field (outside of the disciplines listed above) with completion of at least 24 graduate-level semester hours in psychology, social work, counseling, or other behavioral health-related coursework
- Relevant coursework in Clinical treatment and treatment planning
- Relevant coursework in Appraisal and assessment of mental disorders
- Relevant coursework in Psychopathology

- Clinical experience fulfilled through clinical practicums or internships completed as part of a master's degree program
