Job Summary

The Julia and Harold Plotnick Endowed Nursing Professor in Global Health and Health Equity is a nine-month, full-time nursing faculty professorship at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, in the Community Nursing Department. The role focuses on expanding initiatives in global health and health equity, fostering interdisciplinary educational opportunities, and providing national/global thought leadership. The faculty member will conduct and collaborate on research in priority areas of global health, mentor students and colleagues, engage with local communities on health equity, and may contribute to tenure-track opportunities. Qualifications include a PhD in Nursing or related field (MS in Nursing if related field), active RN licensure in Massachusetts, and at least eight years of academic experience with demonstrated excellence in teaching, mentoring, research, and university service; experience with underserved and diverse populations and leadership in national/international nursing or health organizations; strong communication and interpersonal skills; and English proficiency. Visa sponsorship may be considered. Salary is described as highly competitive with potential tenure contingent on qualifications and scholarly accomplishments.

Required Qualifications

  • Earned PhD in Nursing or related field; if related field, MS in Nursing
  • Active, or eligible for, unencumbered RN licensure issued by the Massachusetts Board of Registered Nursing
  • At least eight years of academic experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching/mentoring; research, and university service consistent with the Associate or Full Professor rank
  • Experience working with underserved and diverse populations
  • Demonstrated expertise in teaching, mentoring and/or research that addresses the experience of underrepresented minorities
  • Demonstrated success in developing a funded program of research, including experience as principal investigator on federally funded or other extramural peer-reviewed research projects
  • Evidence of national/international leadership in nursing or health-related professional organizations that address global health and equity priorities
  • Strong communication, writing, problem-solving, and interpersonal abilities
  • Native English speaker or level 5 proficiency in written and spoken English (on the Interagency Language Roundtable scale)
