Job Summary
University assistant (praedoc) in a 4-year contract focusing on experimental aerosol nanoparticle dynamics. You will actively participate in research, teaching and administration within the Nanoparticle Dynamics Team, contributing to fully funded projects on nanoparticle detection, characterization and growth analysis, presenting a research plan, pursuing a dissertation, and engaging in international collaboration and outreach through publications and conferences. The role integrates research activities, manuscript preparation, and teaching responsibilities (lab courses, exercise classes) with independent work and collaboration in an international team based in Vienna. You will contribute to outreach, stay updated with state-of-the-art developments, and have access to internal training and development opportunities within a robust academic environment.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree or Diploma in physics and/or aerosol related topics such as atmospheric sciences or aerosol chemistry
- experience in academic writing
- background in general aerosol physics and chemistry
- experience with the usual techniques for aerosol detection and characterization (CPC, DMA, mass spectrometry)
- programming (e.g. Mathematica/Python/Matlab)
- excellent command of written and spoken English
- Master's degree is the usual legal prerequisite for a PhD position at the University of Vienna; in exceptional cases Bachelor’s degrees may be considered too
