Job Summary
Support Universal Preschool and GSRP students by building relationships across school sites to ensure engagement and safety. Prioritize tasks assigned by teachers and school leaders while complying with all program requirements. Assist with physical transfers or interventions, including lifting up to 50 pounds, and maintain a safe, welcoming environment for students and families. Demonstrate empathy for students and incorporate feedback from colleagues and professional development sessions. Fill in vacant spots across multiple sites as needed. This role requires standing, walking, and moving quickly between indoor and outdoor settings for extended periods.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in early childhood education or related field
- Valid Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or an existing 120 Training-Hour approval by MDE
- Alignment with Lansing School District's mission and values
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move quickly between indoor and outdoor settings for extended periods
- Regularly required to bend, kneel, crouch, and assist with physical transfers or interventions involving students
- Must be able to lift, push, or carry up to 50 pounds as needed
- Frequent verbal communication is required to support students, coordinate with staff, and manage emergent situations
- Occasional use of computers, radios, and other communication or documentation tools
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience working with Universal Preschool or GSRP students in an urban setting
