Job Summary
Conduct armed court security duties for the United States Marshals Service, including stopping, questioning, and detaining individuals while working extended hours in adverse weather. Provide armed escorts, use a handgun with a weak hand, and physically subdue attackers or control violent crowds. Confiscate weapons during pat-downs and respond to emergencies with unplanned strenuous physical activity, including climbing stairs in pursuit. Maintain the ability to sit or stand for at least two hours and pass annual firearms qualification. This part-time position requires a law enforcement academy graduation certificate, three years of certified law enforcement experience, and a valid state driver's license. Akal Security protects federal courthouses across 40 states.
Required Qualifications
- Be a citizen of the United States of America
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Be a high school graduate or have a GED or equivalency
- Be able to read, write and speak the English language fluently
- Be able to withstand the physical demands of responding to emergency situations
- Possess or be able to obtain a valid state driver's license from your state of residence
- Have a safe driving record for the past five years
- Possess a graduation certificate from a law enforcement academy
- Have at least three calendar years of verifiable experience as a certified law enforcement officer or its military equivalency within the last seven years
- The experience includes general arrest authority
- Be free from conviction of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence
- Be able to complete and pass Phase One and Phase Two training
- Be able to pass an annual firearms qualification
- Possess the ability to meet and deal tactfully with judges, attorneys, government personnel, and the public
