Job Summary
Unit Secretary in Pediatric ED handles transcription of physicians' orders, maintains and organizes patient charts and medical records (Kardex, MAR, Nursing Flowsheets), prepares and files test results, and coordinates with staff for admissions, transfers, and discharges. Responsibilities include ensuring chart integrity and confidentiality, maintaining databases and supplies, coordinating communication with patients, families, and other departments, and scheduling diagnostic tests as prescribed. Requires high school diploma or GED, approximately one year of secretarial or healthcare-related experience or training, transcription skills, and knowledge of medical terminology; English-speaking skills and basic organizational/reception abilities are essential.
