Job Summary
Unit Secretary for Medical ICU supports nursing critical care operations at High Point Medical Center. Responsible for clerical functions including requisitioning, charging supplies and services, maintaining unit records and patient charts, and transmitting communications in accordance with HIPAA guidelines. Serves as the unit receptionist, providing general information to patients, families, visitors, and staff. Tasks include escorting customers, answering phones, relay of messages, mail and communications distribution, operating the intercom system, processing physician orders, and assisting with order entry. Maintains supplies and floor stock via electronic requisition, assembles patient charts, updates patient data, and handles charting at discharge. Supports patient flow through admissions, transfers, and discharges, notifies Admitting Office of changes, and participates in shift handoffs. Attends staff meetings (minimum 75%) and completes mandatory education. Requires High School Diploma or GED and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Schedule includes alternating shifts with 8:00 AM–6:30 PM hours; full-time with benefits.
