Job Summary
Provide administrative support for all employees within an assigned nursing unit by maintaining and updating paperwork such as patient records, charts, and discharge orders. Answer telephone calls, determine call nature, and relay information to appropriate personnel while directing visitors, guests, patients, and medical staff. Ensure timeliness of laboratory, radiology, and other tests ordered for patients. Maintain department cleanliness and safety by operating equipment safely, assessing risks, and implementing infection prevention standards. Perform other duties as assigned to support overall organizational effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Current driver's license
- Acceptable driving record
- Insurability
- General computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management
- Critical thinking skills
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and complete complex tasks
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection prevention standards
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality
- Ability to work closely and professionally with others at all levels of the organization
- Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard
- Visual acuity required for patient assessment and documentation of care
- Acute hearing required for accurate patient assessment
Desired Qualifications
- One year of clerical or administrative assistant experience
- Two (2) years' experience in health care setting
