Job Summary
Conduct clerical and receptionist duties for the Admissions Assessment Unit, including filing, recording physician orders, booking patient appointments and transport, ordering supplies, and managing payroll. Direct and monitor visitors, patients, and hospital personnel while answering and routing telephone calls to appropriate staff. Maintain accurate records, prioritize multiple demands in a fast-paced environment, and collaborate effectively within the interprofessional team. Work Monday to Friday day shifts (0800–1800) and Saturdays and Sundays (0800–1600). Requires proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Meditech 6.0, along with strong medical terminology knowledge and customer service skills.
Required Qualifications
- Previous unit secretary experience within a hospital setting
- Sound knowledge of medical terminology
- Proficient computer and typing skills with experience using Microsoft Suite
- Experience with Meditech 6.0
- Strong customer service, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands in a fast pace environment
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills with a high attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team as well as independently
- Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards
- Demonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with organization related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required
- Must be able to work Monday to Friday 10 hours Day shifts (0800-1800), Saturdays and Sunday 8 hours Day shift (0800-1600)
