Job Summary
Conduct monthly surveys on resident care status, compile reports, and review and update nursing care plans daily. Make rounds and confer with nursing staff to monitor resident conditions, report changes to the Administrative Office, and provide floor coverage during staffing shortages. Supervise nursing personnel across all shifts, assist with in-service education and orientation, and address nursing-related issues in the absence of the Director of Nursing. Praise and discipline staff as needed, assist with performance evaluations, and verify certifications for new admissions. Oversee Utilization Review activities in accordance with Medicare and Medicaid guidelines and educate staff on documentation requirements for skilled care.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) currently licensed in the State of employment
- Genuine interest in geriatric nursing and long-term care
- Ability to make sound judgments and decisions
- Physically fit, mentally and emotionally stable
- Familiarity with facility policies and procedures
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods
- Lift and transfer residents as needed (with assistance when necessary)
- Manual dexterity for handling medical equipment and documentation
- Must be able to respond effectively to emergencies and manage stressful situations professionally
