Job Summary
Direct the entire operation of a nursing unit in a long-term care facility by performing general management functions such as hiring, disciplining, and evaluating employees. Plan and facilitate meetings to address resident care issues, manage staffing patterns and census to ensure needs are met, and monitor clinical operations to ensure quality care is administered. Participate in developing programs for staff recruitment, retention, and continuing education while contacting physicians as necessary. Obtain medications, supplies, and medical records to provide safe, efficient care and assist in orienting new personnel. Monitor skills of new staff and guide those needing assistance with procedures, while participating in the facility's QA program.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Valid CPR teaching certificate
- Three years of nursing experience
- One year of nursing experience in a long-term care environment
- Knowledge of state and federal requirements for accreditation and certification
- Possesses basic computer skills
- Ability to work with a culturally diverse resident and employee population
