Job Summary
Conduct regular nursing rounds to monitor resident care, assess evolving needs, and maintain safety standards. Collaborate with supervising physicians and interdisciplinary staff to implement individualized care plans and support discharge planning. Direct, mentor, and supervise shift nursing staff while providing guidance on medication administration and clinical tasks. Assist with performance evaluations, staff coaching, conflict resolution, and fostering a positive unit culture. Ensure precise, confidential medical record-keeping compliant with HIPAA and state/federal healthcare regulations. This full-time day shift role includes on-call availability every other weekend.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Illinois State License as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with no disciplinary actions in effect
- Current CPR Certification
- Graduate of an accredited college or university nursing program
- Minimum 2 years of direct care experience in long-term care, restorative, or geriatric nursing
- Minimum 1 year of leadership or nursing management experience
- Sound, independent decision-making skills paired with a supportive, team-first mindset
- Compassion, tact, and patience when communicating with residents, families, and team members
- Ability to maintain composure, organization, and a positive demeanor in high-pressure situations
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in inpatient, palliative, or specialized long-term care settings
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and basic computer skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
