Job Summary
Unit Manager - RN oversees nursing operations for a designated unit in a long-term care/assisted living facility. The role supervises RNs, LPNs, and CNAs, conducts performance evaluations, builds staff schedules, and ensures appropriate coverage and high-quality resident care. Develops and updates individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, administers medications and clinical procedures as needed, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards. Leads care-management activities, participates in resident care conferences, and drives quality assurance initiatives (infection control, fall prevention, pressure sore management). Maintains accurate EHR documentation and supports staff development, resident advocacy, and effective communication with residents, families, and other healthcare professionals.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing).
- Licensure: Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of nursing experience, preferably in a long-term care or healthcare setting, with at least 1 year in a leadership or management role.
- Leadership skills and supervisory experience
- Strong clinical assessment and care planning abilities
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and clinical documentation
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local nursing regulations and infection control standards
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills
- Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized resident care plans
