Job Summary
Unit Manager Registered Nurse leads the entire operation of a nursing unit in a long-term care facility, directing general management functions, staffing, resident care planning, physician coordination, QA participation, and staff development while ensuring quality care and regulatory compliance. The role requires RN (or LPN where state required) licensure, a nursing degree (degree preferred), CPR certification, and at least three years of nursing experience with LTC exposure. Responsibilities include staffing management, meetings and committees for resident care issues, program development and evaluation for staff recruitment and education, interfacing with physicians, QA participation, and cross-functional leadership to maintain quality care and budgetary controls.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing, degree preferred
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) (if state requires)
- Valid CPR teaching certificate, if applicable
- Three years of nursing experience, of which one year was in a long-term care environment
