Job Summary
Unit Manager is responsible for directing the operation of a nursing unit in a long-term care community, including performing general management functions such as hiring, disciplining, and evaluating care team members; planning and facilitating meetings to address resident care issues; managing staffing and budget; developing and evaluating programs for recruitment, development, and education of nursing staff; coordinating with physicians for timely interventions; monitoring staffing patterns and census to ensure resident needs and budgetary controls; overseeing medication, supplies, and medical records; assisting in orientation of new personnel and ensuring procedures are followed.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
- Licensed as an LPN or RN in the state employed; license must be active, valid, and in good standing.
- Must hold an active CPR license or the ability to obtain within the first 30-days of employment. CPR license must be kept active and current throughout employment.
- Three years of nursing experience, of which one year in a long-term care environment.
- Valid CPR teaching certificate preferred, but not required.
